Flock is an interesting web browser that has spun off from Mozilla FireFox. The folks at www.flock.com have extended the FireFox open source code to include cool features like:
- Favorites (=bookmarks) that are hosted on a central web server, so they can be accessed from anywhere on the net. They can also be tagged.
- The history of pages that you visited is searchable (at last!)
- Embedded blogging features that include posting to Flickr and easy aggregation of news feeds.
- Available for Windows, Mac and Linux.
Currently it's open-source, although they say they might include proprietary code in the future
It's still in the pre-release version (v0.5pre) so expect a bumpy test drive.
All in all it seems like a promising addition to the web browser market. I'll be keeping an eye open for a proper beta.
