Here another great download from Microsoft!

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Tools: Visual Studio 2005 Extensions Version 1.1.

These are tools for developing custom SharePoint applications. They include Visual Studio project templates for Web Parts, site definitions, and list definitions. They also have a stand-alone utility program called the SharePoint Solution Generator. If you are working with SharePoint, this tool is a must for you.

Whaddya think about having to install VS 2K5 on the *server*? If I read correctly, this has to be installed on a machine alongside WSS 3.0 which, in turn, requires Windows Server 2003 (or later). So I'm wonder what you think about doing development that way?

Are you doing it? How do you find using the Server OS for your workstation?

I develop on a Windows 2003 Server box with WSS 3.0, VS2005 installed. It's the only way to develop for WSS. Beats having to copy files across the network and the rest. And if you mess something up it should be easier to fix on your own box than on some other server. But the biggest thing is debugging. Again it's a lot easier to debug on your own machine than remote debugging...

Well that's my two cents.
