You may receive an error message when a PXE client computer contacts a Windows Server 2003-based computer that is running RIS and DHCP with two IP addresses for one network adaptor

Funny the things one runs into. new Laptop wouln’t boot from RIS, and this was why.

Hi there, the above mentioned error also occurs if using ADS and the SMGUID is not configured in the ADS Device Identification properties.

The Issue is the RIS server has two IP address. I had 2 nics one had fixed IP address and the other had a auto assigned IP address that was Invalid. When the Client did a DHCP broadcast for the RIS server the IP address the RIS server responed with was the Invalid IP address. I just had to disable the interface and off it went. If you must have to IP address try moveing the nic with the Valid IP to the top under

Network connections-> Advanced menu-> Advanced Setting-> Connetions

This solution has not been tested, let us know if it works

Also fixed by changing the DHCP servers first DNS server to the primary DNS server instead of itself which was a secondary.

Also if you are still having issues try right clicking on pending devices in the windows deployment services and click on delete rejected devices! worked for me!
