Well I had a relatively unpleasant exprience with Microsoft's new offerings when it comes to azure.

And of course they deleted the forum trail.

They don't want the consumer as a customer, expect to pay $200 - $250 or more a year for azure and that doesn't include a good email solution. This is for the smallest slice offering.

If you want a simple website solution isn't a bad choice and it's less than $50 a year.

You can get free email accounts from hotmail or use office 365

Yes you can. However you can't do forwarders with those.
I use email forwarders so that I can cut-down on spam and remove email addresses if it gets compromised.
Also spam protection is pretty lame. Why didn't you meantion gmail, it's got better spam protection. However no forwarders on that one either.
Email has different flavors depending on options. Full service means full service.
I have free email with yahoo, gmail, and pay for my 1and1 account.
"it's kinda free because it is part of the website package that I pay for".
