I have been hearing a lot of discussions as of late on whether the Edit and Continue feature will be in C# (as it will be in VB8) or not. But looking at some PPT slides that Microsoft released to user groups just recently, I see the Edit and Continue feature listed under the New Features section of the C# Lanaguage slide (Slide 10). Interesting! First official word I have seen of this ... that's all. Thought I would share ......
A Reuters video and case study about our lightweight architecture that we use for our customers has appeared on the Microsoft site. These items are associated with the ad campaign that we are going with Microsoft on Windows Server System. I had the privilege of working on these items - so enjoy!
Check out this week's
Computer World magazine. There is a two-page joint
Reuters/Microsoft ad there that I had the privilege of heading from the Reuters side. Glad it is finally out!
As a VB'er, I am SO happy that the name of Visual Basic (of which I am an MVP for) has changed from Visual Basic .NET to Visual Basic 8.0. This info comes according to Robert Green's Visual Basic Blog and Panopticon Central. I have posted about this in the past here and here. For me, as a writer, it was ALWAYS very annoying to write “Visual Basic .NET” over and over again. Then ... was it “VB .NET” or “VB.NET” ... geez. I am going to love writing “Visual ......
Microsoft is going to be providing free presentations for user groups to utilize via the INETA content repository. The newest (and first) presentation from this group is titled: Microsoft Programming Languages Roadmap. The goals of the presentation are to: Outline the Microsoft programming language philosophy Provide an overview of Microsoft’s current programming languages Detail programming language enhancements in the upcoming Whidbey release Lay out the programming language roadmap and vision ......
EWeek comes out with an article on the the Whidbey and Yukon dates being moved back to first half of 2005. Most of the article though concentrates on SQL. Another interesting point besides the dates being moved is that the official product names are now Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. Now that they said the official names of the products, I am wondering when they are going to announce the official names of some of the other languages and technologies - such as Visual Basic .NET and ASP.NET. ......
If you missed this announcement - I thought it was pretty cool. Corbis and Reuters are going to be offering their images together as a singular offering. Reuters has over 1Million images in its photo archive and with Corbis and their offering - the combined archive will be one of the largest and most comprehensive places to get digital photography. Hopefully as an employee, I get access to this! ;) Read the press release here ......
INETA is going to be running the Birds of a Feather (BOFs) again this year. We did this at PDC 2003 as well and it was rather successful. It is an amazing addition to the overall event. YES, TechEd and PDC are great events, but it is one PPT presentation after another with a handful of questions at the end. The BOFs are meant to be community driven discussions/debates around a particular issue. There is no speaker - just a moderator for the topic and everyone is encouraged to participate and discuss ......
My latest article on MSDN just came out. It covers the File Field control. Enjoy.
