Burning Crusade is installing...and I'm thawing...

Tuesday, January 16, 2007 12:23 AM

So tonight I went out and joined what turned out to be a few hundred hardy Winnipegers in line at the St. James Best Buy location for the midnight selling of WoW:Burning Crusade.

First of all, these people are uber-geeks. I'm sure there were other midnight launches in other cities, but how many of them were in -41 Degrees Celcius type of weather?! That's right, we're hard core about our gaming. Booya!

There was an talkative group of people I was in line with, and there were some awesome geeky jems that were said, such as:

"Hmm, if we killed everyone in line ahead of us, how much honor would we get?"

"If I could, I'd turn into my bear form so I'd be warm"

"LTB Toque!"

"I'm in my happy place...I'm in a pool of lava...I'm taking fire damage...but I'm warm!"

Ah yes, it was good times in line with my fellow geeks. I was surprised at how many girls were in line actually! Very impressive to see the girl quotient of gamers increasing.

So now I'll finish installing it on my Mac, play it for a half-hour, then go to bed, knowing that I stood in line at midnight in the bitter cold for an extra half hour of gameplay. But it'll be so worth it...

The weather doesn't count ... -40 to you is equivalent to 0 for most people which is quite bearable. It's all a matter of relativity. <grin> 1/16/2007 11:22 AM | Jason Row
