How ITunes Saved (my wife's) Christmas (party)

Sunday, December 4, 2005 4:13 PM

So my wife gets a call about a half hour before heading out to a Sunday school teacher's shindig from one of the ladies, asking if she could bring a Christmas CD for the gettogether. Of course, she said. We have Christmas CD's. Or so we thought...

As we scoured the house looking for any site of a Christian Christmas CD, we started to realize as the clock ticked away that maybe we didn't have Christmas CD's (or at least we didn't know where they were).

Then an idea hit me: why don't we just buy an album off of ITunes and burn a disc? Within 10 minutes, we found a CD (Point of Grace...not my favorite, but this is a woman's shindig, so it'll do), bought it, downloaded it, and burned it....just in time for her to head out the door.

I LOVE ITunes. I'm a huge Microsoft guy...probably more fanatical than I should be. But I gotta tell you: ITunes is just an amazing service. Of course, you do need an IPod to play the songs, but I have no complaints about my IPod either (in fact, its become a part of my daily life).

So thank you ITunes for saving my wfie's Christmas shindig tonight. Now if only they sold old-school bands like Vengeance Rising...

“I want my head chopped off...you'll see my body rot...and then I'll reign with Christ...and you will fry!!!” Good times.

I don't have an iPod, and I've been buying tons of music off of iTunes. Just have to have the iTunes software installed on your PC.

I am pleasantly surprised on the amount of Christian music they have available too! 12/5/2005 6:34 AM | Kyle

I picked up Mercy Me Christmas off iTunes a few weeks ago, and it is really good. Good listen as far as Christmas music goes. 12/5/2005 10:08 AM | Jeremy from Silicon Valley

Wow, a geek who likes Vengeance Rising... thats great! Ever heard of Once Dead? They are made up some of the former members of VR. Good stuff. 12/5/2005 11:12 AM | solid

Kyle: Yeah, I was surprised that they had to much too! I didn't realize that you could download the songs without an IPod...i guess its just that you can only burn them to disc and not load them onto another MP3 player unless you convert it to MP3 format, right?

Jer: I was looking at that one, but I figure PoG would have been a better choice for a woman's shindig.

Solid: I have heard of Once Dead, although I've never actually heard their stuff. I was talking with someone who brought up how the members had started their own band. I'll have to see if I can track down some MP3's online to check it out. 12/5/2005 11:20 AM | D'Arcy from Winnipeg
