The Portland Code Camp is coming up in less than 2 weeks, and I'm pretty excited to be a part of it. Not only is it my first Code Camp that features a Game Development track, it's also my first trip "out west"... Yes folks, that's right... the mighty worldwide explorer (I sailed the Atlantic, the Persian Gulf, the Mediterranean & the Caribbean) has never set foot west of Texas... oh the shame!

Anyway... these are a couple of the tracks I definitely want to hit...

Games by nature can be incredibly complicated beasts. If gone unchecked, dependencies will take over your streets and crimes of greed and passion will rule all. Modules can and will declare war on other modules all in the name of "The Almighty User." What is the best peacekeeping measure you can use as a developer besides weapons of mass destruction (how do you spell "format C:\")? In this session, we will discuss using the power of messages to create a message-oriented game architecture that will help decrease the number of dependencies in your game as well as make your game easier to maintain and enhance.
