This is a very interesting bit of kit. On the surface it simply allows the owner to connect two USB external harddrives to his or her network. In it's self this is fine but what has happened is that the ' Hacking world' have taken the little unit to their heart. At it's core the NSLU2 has a version of Linux running to handle the required functionality offered out of the box. What that means is that with a little bit of effort and a small amount of re-flashing the unit can be turned into a web server, an itunes server or a printer server.

To achieve this either an extension to the existing operating software needs to be added or a complete replacement version.
