This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave

Now this was posted at MSMobiles a few days ago...  but interestingly enough all the links are now broken with the exception of the Accessories page makes you wonder when it might actually be released?

UK division of HP makes the HP iPAQ hw6915 / hw6910
February 12, 2006 [Pocket PC phone]
No more digging deep in the website of HP is needed - now it is enough to go to HP UK website, click on professional handhelds and the HP iPAQ hw6915 / hw6910 are presented officially.

Also the probable reasons of the delay of these phones can be deduced in the list of features provided now very officially by HP itself:

  • Featuring Microsoft Windows for a familiar and intuitive environment
  • Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) for Windows Mobile 5.0 supports secure push delivery of Outlook information, including e-mail without the need for 3rd party licensing.
  • Quad-band GSM technology delivers world wide mobile voice and data services with handset mode, hands-free speakerphone mode, or using a wired or wireless headset.
  • Capture and share special moments with the integrated 1.3 MP HP Photosmart Camera and use your Windows Media Player 10 Mobile to download and enjoy MP3s and videos, as well as Internet radio.
  • Integrated Wi-Fi (802.11b) provides high-speed Internet access in the office at home and at your favourite hotspots while GPRS/EDGE technologies deliver connectivity on the go.
  • The latest GPS Navigation software and maps provide accurate turn-by-turn visual and voice guidance taking you to any address in Europe.
  • Processor description: Intel PXA270 Processor 416 MHz

... or in other words the hw6900 series have faster processor than (cancelled) hw6700 series and the reason of the delay of these phones may have been the fact, that HP didn't want to release them without push email (that is part of the MSFP) - after all these are all phones with QWERTY keyboard, that, similarly like Motorola Q, are supposed to compete with RIM BlackBerry devices...
