The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave
Thin Clients, VDI and Linux integration from the front lines.... Raw and sometimes unedited notes based on my experiences with VMware, Thin Clients, Linux etc.

I was chatting to someone at Citrix the other day about the Access Gateway and they are clearly pleased with it's debut so far, some interesting facts that came my way are:

  • Globally the Access Gateway started off at #30, being a fairly late entrant in the running
  • It has now risen to #5 on revenue in just over 6 months
  • Citrix would argue that because it's cheaper it would be fairer to measure by units shipped, in that case it's now #3 Globally
  • Apparently the other two in front are Juniper and F5
  • Q3 doubled that of Q2, and so far October by itself has provided 70% of Q3
  • 16% of devices have gone to non-Citrix Customers

Now on the back of that I'm not surprised that Citrix are keeping this low key, they will be clearly doing a big Marketing drive in Q1 next year with the hope of making it to #1 by Q2. We'll keep an eye on how it progresses?
I have no doubt that the eagerly awaited release of the 4.2 firmware will be pivotal to Citrix maintaining this momentum, any thoughts folks?
