This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave
Thin Clients, VDI and Linux integration from the front lines.... Raw and sometimes unedited notes based on my experiences with VMware, Thin Clients, Linux etc.

Now the reason I post this is that sometime back I was looking in to some issues at another Client's site and came across issues that were not necessarily the cause of the Symptom but they were rather strange. The resolution was to rollback McAfee server client to an earlier revision OR await the arrival of a patch from McAfee.......  It would still appear to be the case?

And just in case you thought you'd rip that out and try something else, do yourself a favour and don't use Sophos? On a large greefield implementation with Server 2003 SP1, Sophos brought it to it's knees on a regular basis, how did we find out? Core Dump sent to Microsoft and 8 weeks on I know they are still waiting to hear from Sophos.

It would appear that the best bet *at the moment* is to go with Trend, however your mileage may vary?  ;-))

When printing from a Presentation Server 4.0 to an ICA 9.0 client the print job will never print on the client machine. The job will spool and de-spool on the server but will never appear spooled by the client.

The print model, in Presentation Server 4.0 and the ICA 9.0 client, ushers all client print data into a client-side temporary file, in the user’s temporary directory. This temporary file is then opened by a helper application, PCL2BMP.EXE for PCL and PS data, CPVIEWER.EXE for EMF data. When the helper application tries to open this temp file, it may get an ACCESS DENIED. Also, if the user tries to open this file manually, they will get the same error. It appears as if the file is not being created properly (security tab is missing).

This only appears to be occurring with McAfee Enterprise 8.0i. McAfee has confirmed this to be a known issue with Enterprise 8.0i on Windows XP SP1 with Security Update 885835 and Windows XP SP2.

Contact McAfee support for VirusScan Enterprise Patch 11. Install this on the Client machine.
Downgrade the ICA client from 9.0.
