This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave

Well it would appear that it is going to be very difficult picking your next Windows Mobile device as we come up to Xmas, on top of the Universal we now have news of some of the expected specs for the C600, and whatever any other device offers it's the C500 form factor that has in my opinion set the benchmark for Windows Mobile handsets.

  • high resolution display: 240x320 pixels compared to 176x220 in C500
  • 1.3 megapixel camera compared to 0.3 megapixel in C500
  • quad-band compared to tri-band in C500 ; quad band is crucial when traveling to USA
  • features EDGE but lacks UMTS ; since Orange has not launched EDGE yet, this feature may be pointless for all users
