The opinions expressed within are my own and should not be attributed to any other Individual, Company or the one I work for. I just happen to be a classic techie who is passionate about getting things to work as they should do (and are sometimes advertised and marketed as being able to?) and when I can I drop notes here to help others falling in to the same traps that I have fallen in to. If this has helped then please pass it on - if you feel that I have commented in error or disagree then please feel free to discuss with me either publically or privately? Cheers, Dave

Thin Clients, VDI and Linux integration from the front lines.... Raw and sometimes unedited notes based on my experiences with VMware, Thin Clients, Linux etc.

Just as when the information first came out that it *might* be possible to get hold of an upgrade ROM for the MPx 200 to bring it up to WM 2003 SE to enable the .Net functionality, so it comes around again.

As you’d expect with very few of the Mobile 5.0 compatible devices actually having been built, you might want to ask the question “What is MS using to test Exchange SP2 functionality with if they don’t have any new fancy gadgets?” But I can say I have seen something that claimed to be Mobile 5 beta, and I was told it was – I eagerly await confirmation?

I was also told that HTC are keeping a very tight lid on this so as not to spoil their “Roadmap” of device launches. Let’s face it, from their point of view, if they released a 5.0 upgrade for the venerable (as it would seem by the end of the year?) C500 then what incentive would there be to buy the new C550/C600?

Interesting times ahead?

I have to say I really want to play with 5.0 but no such luck so far... Wouldn't it be lovely to go and play with it on the XDAII just to test it out... but no.... HTC refuse point blank to release the update to any customers. All in the name of selling more devices.

I for one will refuse to ever buy their devices or put them into a business environment as they do not provide any support or help for the developers and the hinder our work.

They need to sort themselves out as a company and listen to what the developers require from them, then just maybe they would sell an awful lot more devices if the developers were advocating their devices.

Did you hear about the Nokia 770... Now that looks like an interesting toy to play with... and apparently Motorola are going in a similar direction. Something to look out for for the future. :)
