_fpdatasources - Where your UDCs are at

Today, courtesy of Angus, I learnt something new about FrontPage.

Ever wondered how every time you open a site in FP (FrontPage), FP keeps track of the all the DVWP datasources you have created for that site, and how its available to whoever opens that site in FP?

What happens is every time a DVWP created and saved  in FP on a site, the DVWP Connection snippet is saved in the _fpdatasources folder as an xml file.

Today I was looking for a tool that would generate wrappers for existing resx files (if you are wondering, yes VS 2005 has corrupted me). I did a bit of googling around and found ResxWrap on SourceForge. Actually I found Codify templates first, but that was a bit too beefy for my requirement. ResxWrap is a simple console app that will parse your resx file and generate a c-sharp wrapper. The downside is that it creates ‘string’ properties for all your resource values no matter what type ......

ECU data on your Windows Mobile SmartPhone via BlueTooth
Autoblog has this post on this cool SmartPhone app that can present you with your car’s ECU data via bluetooth. “U.K.-based Vital Engineering has one of the coolest automotive diagnostic packages out there - a plug-in OBD-II Bluetooth transmitter, and the “VitalScan” diagnostic software package for your laptop PC, PocketPC, or Palm handheld. Its PC and handheld products have been out for a while, but this week they launched a beta release of VitalScan for Windows Mobile Smartphones” ......

Valve releases its HDR Demo Level for HL2 - The Lost Coast
Valve have released the 'The Lost Coast', a HDR Lighting Demo level for HalfLife 2. Along the progress of the game you do have 'narratives' which exposes you to various aspects of building the game, character modeling and the technology itself. The best part is that this a free demo, however if you the requirements for HDR is very high. What is required is a processor speed greater than 2.8Ghz, more than 1GB Ram, and a Direct X 9 Card, which means I don't get to see all those cool bloom effects. ......

Rumor, AOE might be in for a 5 part series
Joystiq, points out that there is a rumor that Ensemble might be planning a 5 part series for Age of the Empires. The image shown left (i.e. if joystiq doesn't change the link) shows solders of different eras; Eras I & II correspond to the 2 previous AOE games, Era III matches what I've played of the AOE3 demo. As cool as this sounds, its a bit hard to fathom that the series might come to an end after 2 more releases. That is very very hard to believe, AOE has a large following, and I am sure ......

Worlds smallest car (nano sized)
Researches at Rice University have developed a Nano car, Its an interesting read, and for all you nano-technology fans this seems like a good step forward. “And with four independently rotating axles, built-in suspension, and oversized wheels, it looks more like a racer in the DARPA Challenge than any car on route 95. With its rotating axles, the Nanocar moves directionally, which means either forward or backward, with its wheels rolling, as opposed to sliding back and forth which is commonly ......

Google's Rss Aggregator
I picked this up from Brian E. Cooper’s blog. Google dwelves in to the RSS Aggregator Domain. I am begining to feel that they would do anything to place ads along side content, but the strange thing is there arent any with the reader (atleast not yet, and I am sure we can expect them in the future). Whats my take on it, I guess its easier to say the contras becuase everybody knows what to expect from an aggregator. I would have assume that there would be a newspaper view of blog items, but ......

GTR PROTO Unveiled
Nissan finally unveiled the GTR prototype. As some of you might know the GTR is now a seperate model from the Skyline. Fortunately the GTR retains much of the design traits of its skyline predecessors. But as you would see in the Autoblog comments in the link below there is general discontent with the front grill. In addition to this I think Nissan missed out another key Skyline trait, i.e. the horizontal lights. (Whats up with Nissan's fascination vertical lights anyway). I cant see why if Mazda ......

I Love this Synopsis

Off the Wired RSS Feed

“Michael Robertson, the bold but oft-sued genius behind and Linspire, brings the iconic and frequently prosecuted Norwegian media hacker to California for his latest venture. This should be interesting. By Annalee Newitz.”

F1 2005 Belongs to Renault
This is probably old news by now, but I was only able to catch the repeat today. Renault are the manufacturers champions of the 2005 F1 season. If any of you own a Renault, you probably be proud to have F1 2005 Chapions bumper sticker right now. Good Season for Renault. Infact I might have been doubtfull earlier this season, but now I am sure ‘Blue is the new Red’. Lets wait and see how 2006 goes. Lot of change in the wind:- new car and engine specs, team acquisitions, driver reshuffle ......

At Tech.ED Sri Lanka 2005
So I was at the Mini Tech.Ed Sri Lanka 2005 today. There was an interesting interesting set of topics, but I think I made the wrong choice of following the Developer Track. Most of the sessions were rushed, or were not technical and code oriented enough (a tad too much marketing blah blah) Out of the 4 sessions the best were the 2 done by William Tay, out of which one was really rushed (as he said he had to cut down a topic that he normally takes 3 days to 1 hour), But you know the funny thing about ......

My Halo Movie wish list
A lot of people have already blogged about that Peter Jackson would be a Executive Producer for the Halo Movie. Now I havent played Halo 2 (since its not out on PC yet ;) ) so bare with me if some of this information is stale, but how I would really like the Halo movie to turn out is for it to have a human face. Granted the main actor of the movie would hardly be showing his face as the Master Chief will be in his suit all the time (can you say Robocop?). I wish the movie wouldnt be a 1:1 rendition ......

Improved SharePoint RecycleBin
Via Chris Johnson “So ... the smart guys in MS IT have come up with an alternate way of providing document recovery without going to a SharePoint backup. They have also decided that it is so useful that they are providing it to the world via GotDotNet. This solution uses an ISAPI filter that sits in front of the WSS ISAPI filter. It watches for requests from users to delete documents. When it sees one, it grabs the document and copies it down to a file share first, then allows WSS to delete ......
