Today I spend part of it installing Microsoft latest version of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise April CTP and the Team System Server BETA 2 installing a vanilla Windows 2003 Enterprise server (of course with all the packs and security updates) sitting under VMWARE GSX 3.1.

I’ve installed SQL Server 2005 twice before and this time was the easiest installation, went this time without a hitch, the only prerequisite this time was the addition of Windows Installer 3.1, which will require the installation of a small ActiveX component before download to establish if you haven’t got a naughty copy of windows.

Window Installer 3.1 can be found here.

Then the fun began, installing Team System Server. I went for the single server install. The prerequisites this time meant I had to go back to SQL Server 2005 and install the Reporting and Analysis services, so kids remember to tick all the boxes on SQL Server 2005 install.

Microsoft have realised the error of its ways with Frontpage Extensions, but part of the install prerequisites was to remove them and use Share-Point Services instead.

Share Point with service pack 1 can be found here.

Now this story is going to be a two parter because I haven’t solved this nasty bug yet, in fact I’ve been pulling me hair out for the last two hours trying to solve this one. The Microsoft forums have been very helpful with loads of options to try, but I haven’t cracked it yet.

The issue is an error message “Error 32000: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”
