AzamSharp Some day I will know everything. I hope that day never comes.
I installed Visual Studio.NET 2005 BETA 2 couple of months ago but really give it a shot yesterday. Unfortunatly its filled with bugs. I was not able to perform common and simple tasks. I tried to select a file from the solution explorer and the solution explorer keeps closing on me. I remained calm and patient for a while but what really pissed me when I was not able to write code in the html view. One other guy told me that his windows form screen freezes in the middle. Can you believe that ! I searched for this problem on google and came to know that many people are facing lot of problems with BETA 2. I have used BETA 1 and faced no problems at all. BETA 2 has tons of problems and the way Microsoft is implementing this it seems like the final product "Visual Studio.NET 2005" will be a VIRUS :) By the way I just uninstalled BETA 2 and reinstalled it again. Let's see how it works ! Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 9:57 AM | Back to top

a beta product... with bugs? Shocking...

I've had problems with BETA 2 on my laptop, but it runs flawlessly on my desktop machine. I guess everyone has a different experience.

Hi. Have you performed a clean install? Installing B2 over an uninstalled B1 has been reported as quirky experience by lots of folks.

Well !! the amazing thing is that these bugs were not present in Beta 1. I installed beta one on my desktop and it worked fine. Now I installed Beta 2 on my laptop and it just hangs up.

I have uninstalled Beta 2 and installed a clean copy again. I will give it a try tonight :)

Clearly define what the problem is instead of lumping up all your frustrations as "bugs". A bug is an objective entity, and is different from "user experience".

Secondly, do a reading of SDLC and find out what the beta cycle means.

The bug in simple words is

"In BETA 2 you cannot type using your keyboard when you are in the HTML view of the .aspx page".

The keyboard keys SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK !!!

>> Secondly, do a reading of SDLC and find out what the beta >>cycle means.

Hmm I did the reading never got to the line where they said that BETA 2 will contains more bugs than BETA 1.

:)

Hi Hrushikesh,

Yes, there are lot of error and bugs in Visual Studio.NET 2005. Let's see if they give a patch to fix these bugs. At present a patch is only available for msdn subscribers.

Visual Studio 2005 has bugs!!! Many times when I try to scroll in an explorer window, windows explorer triggers the visual studio debugger (Why does this happen???)... this then shuts down all my explorer windows... Jeez, happens right after a reboot too.

The bug that annoy me the most if when you are not able to type. I mean keyboard stops working :). There is a fix to that just press Shift + Alt + Enter (2 times) this will trigger the full screen function and than back to the original screen. But again this bug is encountered so many times that you will be doing this all day long.

I never had this issue but most probably the CD is bad or try turning off the virus scanner while installing.

I thought I had the prolbem with it hanging on "Executing Action HXMerge_VSS" and went looking for information on it. While I was reading this page I noticed that it didn't hang, just took a really long time. I have a pretty geeked out system and it still took a while so just be patient if you come across this.

Thanks a ton... Azamsharp. Guess you saved my project :)

I guess I read through this but missed reading the solution. I did try uninstalling and reinstalling. But when I opened my old application, keyboard just stopped working.

I am installing vs.net 2005 again. I will try this solution. I do hope it works. It certainly is very irritating when you are in the midst of important work and this problem occurs.

I frequently can't type enter or backspace or insert or cut using the keyboard when editing C# code. I have found that showing and then hiding the solution explorer fixes this problem.

Today my function keys just stopped working. I can no longer use F5 to do debugging for example.

I am not able to view the solution explorer in the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, for my solution containing five projects . The view option in the menu only contains Team Explorer and server explorer.

Guys,

Do not hide the tool windows. In other words...don't let them auto-hide because they steal focus. I noticed after pinning the Quick Console window at the bottom, my keyboard works pefectly.

What do you mean after pinning a quick console application keyboard works fine.

I will try NOT to hide the tools window.

Thanks,
AzamSharp

You know...quick console, locals, breakpoints, task list, ect. Pin them down instead of letting them slide out of view. (Auto-Hide)

I have run into the keyboard error stuff in the released verions on VS.NET.

All my keys that's not alpa or numeric dosen't respond at all...

Anybody got a fix or some solution for this?? This is a shame, shame on MS, release an application that you use to type code, and the keyboard dies, what's that, that's like giving a model a job and include a fat and ugly body. Try modelling with that!
